open studio

IMG_8736.JPG

For the past few years I’ve been hiding up in the Laurentians forest working on an all consuming painting commission – four 6’x12′ triptychs aligned with the cardinal points and painted by the seasons, called ‘the altars to the directions’. The finishing touches of this large-scale time-based painting series are now happening at my downtown atelier. The studio is open to visitors by chance and by appointment until the winter solstice.

This very special presentation of paintings looks at many aspects and experiences of mental health to raise awareness and, I hope, will ignite the fires of compassion so that the world can be a more tolerant and loving place. If you would like to attend the opening, RSVP.

SOLO SHOW!

The United Theological College presents

“WHEN SOULS MEET”

Mystical Landscape Paintings by Jennifer Hamilton

“When Souls Meet” brings together a collection of UTC community member Jennifer Hamilton’s paintings. Inspired by Hilma af Klint’s channeled spiritualist paintings at the very beginning of abstraction, Jennifer chose the palette and metaphor of black & white & rainbows, alternating between geometric and totally abstract forms. Some of the pieces were responses to music, some were illustrations of emotional events and others came out of meditations and dreams. Open Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm. Extended: The show now runs til February 22, 2018!

chrysalis // blooming

If you’d really like to get to know yourself, spend a winter in the woods alone. You may discover your inner monsters and your strength. You may start moonlighting as a barmaid. ‘Stairway to Heaven’ may trickle from your lips and fingertips as you spend dark hours at the piano. You may be astonished by the melting snow come springtime and realize that the winter was just crystallizing everything that needed to be liquified.
